Mission Statement - Zoco Boardriding Shelter
The Zoco concept developed out of a love of boardriding and traveling but a hatred of only being able to find second rate holiday accommodation in key boardriding locations. A frustration based on the assumption that boardriders and their co-travellers only care about the sport and not the accommodation they stay in, lead to the development of Zoco Shelter.
LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION
It's a cliché but it's true. When sourcing new accommodation for our portfolio, the first thing on our minds is its proximity to the nearest slope or suitable beach for boardriding. However Zoco does not compromise quality for location. Properties are hand picked and the best possible deals negotiated and passed onto our clients. We hope there is something for all budgets in our portfolio.
ABOUT THE MD
The 'Brains' behind Zoco Shelter has spent four years in the self-select holiday industry and twelve years as a surf widow. This combination of industry savvy and the insight gained by living with a traveling boardrider, give our MD the perfect skill set to manage Zoco Shelter. All those years surrounded by enthusiastic surfers, kiters and snow boarders, listening to their tall tales, travel thrills and disappointments finally paid off. Zoco Shelter is the answer for traveling boardriders and their partners/families.
In a nutshell our aim is to provide good quality, good value, holiday accommodation in the right location for your boardriding sport of choice.
'Zoco', funny name what's that all about?
A ZOCO is a semi-circular or crescent shaped stone structure built by the natives of the Canary Islands as protection from the sun and wind. These rudimentary lava stone shelters vary in size, height and complexity but in essence they all serve the same basic function i.e. to shelter and protect. ZOCOs are also used in agriculture and in the volcanic ash vineyards to offer plants a protected and safe environment in which to bloom. Without this protection from the sun and wind the plants would have died and the islands would have been uninhabitable. Without sounding mawkishly sentimental this is the inspiration behind our company name and logo: To provide board riders with basic shelter and protection in all boardriding locations on our planet however inhospitable.
