BOARDRIDING ACTIVITIES WITHIN THE AREA
SurfingCaleta de Famarais an excellent training ground for beginners and intermediates. Playa Famara beach is a long natural beach situated in a large protected bay and has numerous peaks that work on different swell, tide and wind conditions. The Famara region, whilst not generally as heavy as La Santa, has some high quality left reefs that can be epic. San Juan hosts the annual WQS 5 star event and is a true world class reef break. Longboarders and intermediate surfers will enjoy the long sandy beach that delivers a whole range peaks from slow and mellow to fast and hollow. Big wave chargers may want to try the mysto spot, Las Bajas, rumoured to be Lanzarote's Mavericks. More Information
KitesurfingPlaya Famara is a 5km long beach that receives swell from 3 directions and is at it's best when the Passat wind blows from the east or a low pressure wind comes from the south during the winter. (sideshore wind conditions). This spot is affected by the tides and at low tide the bigger waves are prone to close out. Can offer, flat water, chop and wave conditions. On big days waves of over 3.5m are possible and can be demanding. Excellent spot for beginners on flat days and wave riders when a swell is running. More Information
WindsurfingCaleta de Famarais located on the north west side of the island and Playa Famara beach is at it's best when the Passat wind blows from the east or a low pressure wind comes from the south during the winter. The waves can be demanding (sideshore wind conditions). Only a couple of locals tend to windsurf here, so you'll have plenty of space but the demanding nature of the waves make it an 'experts only' spot. More Information
